WW1 Western Electric 509W Headphones In Working Condition 

This is a lovely pair of WW1 Western Electric 509W Headphones In Working Condition.  These types of headphone were predominantly used in military applications in crystal radio sets from 1918, at the end of WW1, to the mid-1920s. 

The impedance of these 100 year old headphones has been measured at 2,200 Ohms. They are in fantastic condition with just scuffs and surface scratches/blemishes commensurate with age, use and storage. 

The headphones comprise the following:

• A canvas covered double headband
• Two chrome receivers stamped 
  • Western Electric, Made in USA. Pat in USA July 23 1918
  • 509W
  • 1100

• Connected by a cord with an Igranic P40 jack plug, which is probably a later addition. 
  

A wonderful addition to a radio ephemera collection, and very stylish!
